Eggs from this farm are sold widely, including as Kroger-branded eggs. Workers killed thousands of unwanted hens by beating and gassing them. In just weeks, nearly 8,000 hens died—many of apparent heatstroke—when temperatures in the farm's sheds reached 106 degrees.
