Vegan Onion Rings Recipe ft. How Not To Die Cookbook Dr. Greger

Welcome to my new Youtube channel where I'll be posting my favorite recipes from my television show Trying Vegan with Mario.

On this episode I reviewed recipes from one of the top vegan cookbooks that has inspired me to try going vegan How Not To Die by Dr. Michael Greger.

SPICE BLEND INGREDIENTS:

2 tbsp nutritional yeast
1 tbsp onion powder
1 tbsp dried parsley
1 tbsp dried basil
2 tsp dried thyme
2 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp dry mustard (mustard powder)
2 tsp paprika
½ tsp turmeric
½ tsp celery seeds

ONION RINGS INGREDIENTS:
1 large red onion
⅔ c oat flour
¼ chickpea flour
1 c almond milk
1 tsp rice vinegar
⅓ c cornmeal
¾ c 100% whole-grain salt free bread crumbs
⅓ c nutritional yeast
1 tsp smoked paprika
2 tbsp Savory Spice Blend (FROM ABOVE)

DIRECTIONS:

1.) Preheat oven to 425.
2.) Line up cutting board- shallow bowl- shallow bowl- baking sheet.
3.) Chop onion into rings.
4.) In a shallow bowl mix oat flour, chickpea flour, almond milk and vinegar.
5.) In another shallow bowl mix cornmeal, bread crumbs, nutritional yeast, savory spice blend and paprika.
6.) Dip batter, dip breading, baking sheet.
7.) Bake for 10 minutes, then remove from oven and carefully turn rings over. Bake for about 10 minutes longer, or until crisp and nicely browned. Serve hot.
