We welcomed Lion King, Topaz, Lussino and Juda to the sanctuary family.

Lussino was bred in a well know racing stud in the Western Cape in Oct 2000. By the time he was two years old, he was already on the track and ran successfully for his owner until he was 5yrs old.
In Feb 2006, just a few months off the track, he was rescued when a compassionate vet nurse found him on a truck in a horrific condition and confiscated him.
He has since been in the Ashers family and now joins the other residents at Ashers.

Topaz is the youngest of the Ashers horses although he is already 10 years old. He is one of 4 horses that were rescued by African Blessings from Onderstepoort Biological Products (OBP) Research Centre in 2006 where he was used to research vaccines for the equine industry.
The aim was to rehabilitate the rescues in order for people to see that they can be transformed and are in fact, loving, gentle and brave. He has been part of the Ashers Family since 2013.

Juda was bred for cattle farming and was abused so had very deep rooted phsycological issues but thankfully with us he doesn’t have to worry about anything other than being who he is and we have fallen very in love with his guarded nature. He was born in 2003.

Lion King was bred in Swaziland for A Grade show jumping but due to an injury he didn’t make the grade and was going to be euthanized but thankfully we were called and managed to make sure he was rescued. He was born in 2003.
